This copper-plate inscription, now preserved in the tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam museum at Tirupati in District chittoor, was originally discovered from the village Alavakonda, Koikuntla taluk, District Kurnool. This Prakrit charter is written in southern characters of about the fourth-fifth century AD. It belongs to the reign of the Pallava king Vishnugopa, son of Buddhavarma belonging to Bharadvaja-gotra. Dated in the first year of his reign, it registers the order of the king, issued through his officials gama-bhojaka, amatya, arakshika, talavara, etc., recording the grant of a village, to a brahmana named Sivandajja of kanva-gotra. The granted village Khandanappakanura is stated to have been situated in mimalaratta included in Chirippalikarajja. |
