The street stretch has a series of closely built properties, most of which may date back to early 20th century and few other to even earlier. The chowk created by the Ganpat Market road and Vasik Dera road offers a rich variety wherein, while all the buildings are historic, each has its own special architectural character. Most buildings are two storeys high therefore, a uniformity of height is maintained. The street is wide and offers ease of pedestrian movement essentially because there is not much vehicular traffic. Projecting wooden balconies and intricately carved eaves boards, window panels etc adds to the historic interest. |
