The property offers good views of the surrounding villages located at a lower level. The site where the property is located is generally flat with closely built houses around.

Brief History / संक्षिप्त इतिहास	This is the present owner s ancestral property and was built by Brijlal Kotwal who was a Forest Ranger at the time. The family has descended from the Parihars of Rajasthan who migrated to Bhaderwah centuries ago for political reasons. The family seems well-placed in local society.

Description of Building/ Structure/Site इमारत/संरचना/स्थल का विवरण	Hidden behind thick vegetation, and barely seen from the road where it is located, the property is extensive and outstanding. The main quarters have two floors and the quarters probably service behind it have a single floor. The property is accessed from an entrance gateway into the private garden. The building entrance is located at the side and is through a recessed wooden columned porch. The wooden entrance door is also of highly ornate quality. The building has striking projecting wooden dubs or jharokas bay windows on each end of its main fa ade. The windows of the dubs have wooden paneled windows with a small glass inserted in the middle of the top panel. Interestingly in place of wooden lattice work, the screens are made of iron. There are a number of spacious rooms within the house and grand porticos in the first floor.

Building/Structure material and other material used प्रयोग में लाई गई इमारती / संरचनागत सामग्री और अन्य घटक	The house is constructed in exposed brick masonry which is lime-pointed. The corners of the building are strengthened octagonal piers, using stretchers of timber one over another and filled with bricks. This helps the structure to withstand earthquakes effectively. Timber is also employed for floor beams and joists. In place of the common lattice-work, window panels are substituted by decorative iron jaalis. Most of the windows are pointed arched and still retain the original wooden panels. Even the perimeter wall of the house is traditional stone wall which is tied together with long pieces of timber.
