| Brief History / संक्षिप्त इतिहास | The area apparently was a popular area for pilgrims coming into Bhaderwah for various religious yatras and melas. Being opposite to the locally important Vasuki Nag temple, the site was used by devotees has a halting place. The dharamsala was built by the Anantram Tehsildar a local landlord. The building temporarily served as a government school and later taken over by security forces. |

The dharamsala is constructed in the same style which was employed for the pre-Mughal wooden (especially religious) architecture in the Kashmir Valley which comprises layers of deodar headers and stretchers filled-in with clay tiles. |

The dharamsala is a two-storey building with a pronounced linear plan. The building is supported on a stone plinth. The entrance to the building is through a columned dalan porch with a side staircase to the first floor. The first floor is highlighted by a wooden projecting wooden balcony. The ground floor has a series of rooms opening on the road which may have served as shops. The first floor has living quarters. |

The building is constructed in style popularly adopted for the construction of religious building in Kashmir especially the Khanqahs. The technique uses headers and stretchers of timber logs placed one over another and the empty spaces in between are filled with baked clay tiles, forming neat square brick panels on the outside. The use of wood in also seen in floor joists, window panels and columns of balconies and the ground floor porch. |
