| Local / Traditional description associated with Built Heritage / Site निर्मित धरोहर / स्थल से सम्बंधित स्थानीय/ परम्परागत विवरण |
The property is an example of a humble and simple traditional timber-framed (dhajji-dewari) building typology, popular in the region of Kashmir at the time. Dhajji-dewari is one of the most popular styles of constructions in the Himalayan region. This technique uses timber and bricks as the core building material. A framework of timber is made which is then filled with burnt clay bricks. This creates a patchwork of small panels made up of brick masonry and surrounded by timber elements. |

| Description of Building/ Structure/Site
इमारत/संरचना/स्थल का विवरण |
Rectangular in plan, the property externally is an ordinary timber-framed building with an open wooden verandah on the first floor projecting out from the entire length of the building face. The entrance to the building is from the side and opens into a hall, which was created by building an enclosure around the original deedh to the house. This deedh is the most ornate feature of the entire house. |

The property is primarily built in stone masonry in the ground floor and brick masonry, filling in the timber frames, on the first floor. Timber has been used extensively in the building for construction of dhajji-dewari walls in the first floor as also for ground and first floor joists. The external and internal walls have been plastered in lime. Some windows are original and are arched with wooden panels while some others have been recently changed but more or less retain the original shape. The frame of the entrance deedh constructed in huge deodar sections and is at least 8ft high. |
