| History / इतिहास | |
| Brief History / संक्षिप्त इतिहास | Apparently this is one of the many Rajput families that migrated from Rajasthan and settled in Bhaderwah in the 1700s for political reasons. They were living with the Rathore community across the River Neeru until 1900s, but eventually moved to Wazir Kotli in 1925 after building this house. |
| Local / Traditional description associated with Built Heritage / Site निर्मित धरोहर / स्थल से सम्बंधित स्थानीय/ परम्परागत विवरण |
The building has its own a distinct character and does not reflect any obvious similarity with traditional Kashmiri architecture which many other traditionally built houses in the area do. This building style may share certain generic characteristics with architectural traditions of other Himalayan regions. |

| Description of Building/ Structure/Site
इमारत/संरचना/स्थल का विवरण |
The building is a linear with a rectangular plan form. The entrance to the building is directly from the road going towards Wazir Kotli and the areas above it. The house is the first to be arrived at after crossing the bridge over River Neeru. This is a considerably large property with three floors with the entrance at the extreme east side of the building as opposed to the commonly found central entrance. This is a characteristic feature of all the houses belonging to the Kotwals of the area. The centre of the house is highlighted by a wide arcaded portico repeating on all the three floors. The portico gives access to a large central hall with rooms around it. The eastern fa ade of the building has a octagonal turret going all the way up from the ground to the third floor. The house is adorned with cast iron railings and fretwork. |

The principal materials used in the construction of the building are stone, brick and wood. While the inner core of all the external walls is stone, the external cladding has been done in finished brickwork which is then plastered with lime. The ceiling is constructed in timber. Most of the windows are segmental arched with slightly projecting moulded brick surrounds. |
