Rubbings of three Arabic inscriptions, bearing religious texts and executed in beautiful Thulth characters, were received from the Deputy superintending Epigraphist, Zonal Office, Madras of the Survey. Of them, one inscription records the date AH 1060 AD 1650 , evidently that of completion of the mosque on which it appears along with the name of the scribe Muhammad Salih Mazandrani who had been a famous calligrapher under Abdullah Qutb Shah AD 1626-72 of Golconda. These records provide pleasat calligraphical specimens. |
