The Hazratbal shrine consists of a two storey building of which according to locals the ground floor comprises the older section of the building. The ground floor consists of a low lying prayer hall preceded by a vaulted masonry hammam and sarad khana. The ceiling of the prayer hall which follows the traditional was talav pattern is supported on intricately carved wooden columns. The first floor of the building which comprises of the main prayer area and also houses the relics could not be accessed. This part of the building is preceded by a wooden dalan on the main eastern fa ade. The building fa ade comprises a series of arches Islamic pointed arches with beautiful infill of wooden pinjrakari. The building is surmounted by a two tyred sloping roof. An interesting feature of the building is the solitary minaret like feature that surmounts the roof, a contemporary addition. |

The building has been constructed in load bearing stone and brick masonry. The porch dalan as well as the truss is in wood. The ceiling of the building in the ground floor is made of masonry vault plastered and was talav. The porch has khatamband ceiling. |
