The house is located in the Reshi bazzar which comprises of a series of three to four adjoining houses with mixed residential and commercial usage. Many of the houses have shops on the ground floor, which continue to be used for commercial purpose. Over a period of time many of the residents have shifted from the area due to ongoing rapid commercialization. The area is one of the busy commercial spines of old Anantnag town. |

The Khan house is located on the main Reshi Bazaar road and is a linearly aligned building along the main road and is a commercial-residential mix use property. The building has three floors with the ground floor comprising shops and the two upper floors serving as private residence. In addition to three shops, there is also an entrance doorway in the ground floor which leads into the building. The building has a plain face on the front with series of wooden paneled windows being the only prominent feature. The building has a robust appearance and reflects excellent workmanship. |

The principal materials used in the construction of the building are stone, brick and wood, with mud mortar. The window openings, on the second floor, are square set within segmental arched masonry profiles. Whereas, the windows on the first floor are all segmental arched in profile. The structural system of the building comprises load bearing brick walls with wooden floor joists. Floor lines are emphasized by brick corbelled bands that run the entire length of the front fa ade. Internally the floors are covered with sathrun mud flooring in most of the rooms. The building is covered with a traditional pitched roof comprising CGI sheets. |
