| Description of Building/ Structure/Site
इमारत/संरचना/स्थल का विवरण |
The Kath house is an adobe construction having four floors. The ground floor consists of a centrally located entrance which leads to a staircase lobby with rooms on either side. The third floor, which perhaps was intended to have a large hall, has been left incomplete because of which the material is rapidly deteriorating. The house is set within a private court and therefore has all four sides exposed. |

| Building/Structure material and other material used प्रयोग में लाई गई इमारती / संरचनागत सामग्री और अन्य घटक |
The main materials used in the construction of the building are stone, brick and timber. While the ground floor is constructed in stone masonry, all the upper floors are in sun-dried brick masonry. The structural system of the building consists of load bearing masonry walls laid in mud mortar. The use of mortar seems very marginal. The first floor has a series of segmental arched window openings on the front face and the second floor has rectangular window openings. The third floor walls remain incomplete. Floor lines are emphasized by exposed wooden runners and floor joists. The ceiling of the rooms comprises exposed wooden joist and planks. Internally the walls are mud plastered and the floors are covered with sathrun mud flooring in most of the rooms. The building is covered with a traditional pitched roof comprising CGI sheets. |
