The Charru house is a sprawling three storied building, located on the main road and sandwiched between other properties. The ground floor has series of four shops facing the road. All the shops still retain their wooden folding shutters and are slightly recessed from the building line. The first and the second floor serve as the residence and have series of rooms around a lobby. The house is presently in an abandoned state. The building is not particularly decorative in character. |

The ground floor is constructed in exposed stone masonry load bearing walls and the upper floors are constructed in brick masonry load-bearing walls. The first and second floor has a series of rectangular windows set within rectangular frames. These windows start at the floor level and have wooden sills. Floor lines are emphasized by exposed wooden runners and floor joists. The ceiling of the rooms comprises exposed wooden joist and planks. Internally the walls are mud plastered and the floors are covered with sathrun mud flooring in most of the rooms. The building is covered with a traditional pitched roof comprising CGI sheets. |
