| Description of Building/ Structure/Site
इमारत/संरचना/स्थल का विवरण |
The presently abandoned building has four floors which makes it look soaring in its surrounding. The symmetrical house has a centrally located staircase lobby which also serves as its primary entrance. The lobby gives access to rooms on its either side. All the floors, apart from the third floor, which has a large hall, have similar layout. The third floor has a continuous projecting wooden gallery or balcony. The central portion of this balcony projects further out and is adorned by decorative wooden columns and latticework panels on top. The neighbouring area has increased almost to the level of the building plinth. |

The principal materials used in the construction of this house are stone, brick and timber. The structural system of the building comprises load bearing brick walls with wooden floor joists. Additions to the building include the bathrooms which have been added on the rear of the house. Almost all the door and window frames are rectangular in shape but are inserted in segmental arched profiles of brick. The gap between the masonry arch and the top rail having been filled by stonework. The building is also emphasized by slightly protruding brick bands running around all openings and also by exposed wooden runners and floor joists along floor levels. |
