| Description of Building/ Structure/Site
इमारत/संरचना/स्थल का विवरण |
The Haider house north-south axis has a rectangular plan with two floors, an attic and a basement floor. A small, rectangular garden leads to the house which has a centrally located entrance doorway. This is followed by a staircase lobby with two rooms on either of its sides. The entrance is emphasized by a dub that projects out from the first floor level. The building is a combination of exposed brick and stone masonry walls. Brick is used in the form of quoins and large bands around openings imparting a striking material and colour contrast to the elevation. The ground floor is constructed in stone brick combination while the first floor is entirely in brick masonry. The south face of the building has a continuous projecting balcony from the first floor which has been boarded up at one end. The roof of the house has a double pitched pent roof that accommodates an attic floor below. |

The principal materials used in the construction of this house are stone, brick and timber. The structural system of the building comprises load bearing brick walls with wooden floor joists. Additions to the building include the bathrooms which have been added on the rear of the house. Almost all the door and window frames are rectangular in shape but are inserted in segmental arched profiles of brick. The gap between the masonry arch and the top rail having been filled by stonework. The building is also emphasized by slightly protruding brick bands running around all openings and also by exposed wooden runners and floor joists along floor levels. |
