The Mohalla (or locality) was traditionally commercially active with most houses carrying out their businesses from the shops in the ground floor, while living on the upper residential quarters of the building. Therefore, this street stretch mostly consists of residential-commercial mixed use properties. The tall buildings, each abutting the other creates a wall-like profile for the Kadipora street. The street is also popular for the presence of a two springs (Nag) here; one of them known as Gaj Nag. |

The enormous property is almost hidden behind the first row of buildings along the Kadipora street. This is one of the most outstanding historic properties in the entire area which speaks of exceptional workmanship and traditional building practice. The property has four floors with an additional basement floor the plan of the building being strictly rectangular - the entrance being on one side the building also has a small extension on the front which consists of two wooden floors. This extension houses shops. The building seems to have four rooms on each floor. The third floor has two projecting dubs at two ends of the front face. |

The main materials of construction used in the building are exposed brick, stone and timber. While the basement and ground floor is constructed in exposed stone masonry, the upper floors are built in exposed brick masonry. There are various decorative features applied to the external surface. While the side wall has minimal windows, the front fa ade has a row of six windows on each floor. The pattern of fenestration detail alters from being segmental-arched in the ground and first floor to pointed-arched on the second floor. The windows on the third floor are square in shape. The windows are adorned with latticework pinjrakari sills. The decorative wooden frieze band that conceals the wooden floor joists, at each floor level, is also another decorative feature of the house. |
