Topographical Description / स्थलाकृतिक विवरण The property is located within the series of historic houses in the Kadipora locality, which is located at the base of a low-height hill. The area is also popular for the presence of a natural spring Gaj Nag. The neighbourhood is fairly plain and devoid of much plantation.

Brief History / संक्षिप्त इतिहास The family is traditional Kashmiri bakers kandur . They presently have a shop on the ground floor from which they carry out their business.

निर्मित धरोहर / स्थल से सम्बंधित स्थानीय/ परम्परागत विवरण		 The Mohalla (or locality) was traditionally commercially active with most houses carrying out their businesses from the shops in the ground floor, while living on the upper residential quarters of the building. Therefore, this street stretch mostly consists of residential-commercial mixed use properties. The tall buildings, each abutting the other creates a wall-like profile for the Kadipora street. The street is also popular for the presence of a spring (Nag) here; known as Gaj Nag.

इमारत/संरचना/स्थल का विवरण 		The building is three-storey, sharing its side walls with other properties on the street. The humble building has a shop facing the road and a tandoor in the ground floor and a single large room on the first and second floor. The house imparts a unique texture to the overall character of the street with its smoke-blackened mud-plastered external walls and incised pointed arched profiles around the window opening. The entry to the house is from the rear.

प्रयोग में लाई गई इमारती / संरचनागत सामग्री और अन्य घटक		 The building is primarily constructed in sun-dried mud bricks. The load bearing building is plastered on the outside as also on the inside in mud. The window openings are square with wooden panels. The flooring on the ground must originally have been in mud but since been replaced with plain cement. The flooring on the first and the second floor is in mud supported on wooden joists.
