Topographical Description / स्थलाकृतिक विवरण	The property is located within the series of historic houses in the Kadipora locality, which is located at the base of a low-height hill. The area is also popular for the presence of a natural spring Gaj Nag. The neighbourhood is fairly plain and devoid of much plantation.

Brief History / संक्षिप्त इतिहास	The family has, for a long time, been cloth merchants, supplying the material to much of Anantnag and parts of Srinagar. They presently have a shop on the ground floor from which they carry out their traditional business.
Local / Traditional description associated with Built Heritage / Site निर्मित धरोहर / स्थल से सम्बंधित स्थानीय/ परम्परागत विवरण	The Mohalla (or locality) was traditionally commercially active with most houses carrying out their businesses from the shops in the ground floor, while living on the upper residential quarters of the building. Therefore, this street stretch mostly consists of residential-commercial mixed use properties. The tall buildings, each abutting the other creates a wall-like profile for the Kadipora street. The street is also popular for the presence of a spring (Nag) here; known as Gaj Nag.

Description of Building/ Structure/Site इमारत/संरचना/स्थल का विवरण	The building is three-storey high with an additional attic floor. The ground floor has a large shop facing the road and a single room behind it which contains a staircase to access the upper floors. The second floor has two rooms on either side of the central corridor. The third floor has a large hall, separated by means of traditional vertical sliding partitions called varusi. The attic or pent roof seems to be a later addition to the building. The front face of the building bears a series of five windows on each of the upper floors.

Building/Structure material and other material used प्रयोग में लाई गई इमारती / संरचनागत सामग्री और अन्य घटक	The building is primarily constructed in brick masonry which is unplastered on the outside but plastered in mud on the inside. The window openings are pointed arched starting at floor level. The wooden sills have latticework or pinjrakari insertions. Wood is used for the construction of joists and floor boards, which is concealed on the outside with the help of carved wooden fascia.
