VIJAYANAGARA AND OTHER ISCRIPTIONS, PANGAL, DISTICT MAHBUBNAGAR.--Dated in Saka 1319 during the rule of Harihara II, a Telugu inscription in sanskrit verse records the capture of the hill-fortress of Panugallu from the Muslims by Immadi- Bukka, younger brother of Irugapadandadhinatha and son of Baicha-dandadhipa and also refers to the renovation of the fortress and embellishment of the city. Dated in Saka 1346 during the rule of Devaraya II, another epigraph reords the construction of the temple of Mukti-Ramesvara by Devanarayana, belonging to a have destroyed the army of Firuz Shah. A Telugu inscription, dated Saka, 1540, records the constuction of a watch-tower at the fortress Balakhilla and a well in the potters street inside the fortress by Khairat khan , an officer of the king. |
