This structure exhibit all the early Chola architectural features in their pristine glory. The shrine consists of a garbagriha, ardhamandapa and the mukhamandapa. The square vimana of the shrine is two tiered. Unlike in all other Shiva temples of south India, the niche on the southern outer wall of the garbagriha, houses an image of Tripurantakamurti instead of Dakshinamurti. The sanctum houses the Shivalinga. There are two standing Dvarapalakas on either side of the outer entrance of the ardhamandapa. The Mukhamandapa is pillared. |
