| Brief History / संक्षिप्त इतिहास | The temples were commissioned by Raja Bala Bhadra Varman, whose religious zeal and peity is a legend among the people of Chamba. The large platform on the side of which the temples stand was a favorite playground for the heir apparnts of the Rajas of Chamba. |

The temples represents art and architecture of high Gurjara Pratihara period as was prevalent in Chamba at the time of Raja Sahilla Varman in 10th Century A.D. The temples are dvianga on elevation. The temples comprises of single square sanctum, enclosed by perpendicular walls punctuated by Rathikas and surmounded by a curvilinear spire which is worked with Bhumi-amlakas. The motifs of Gurjara Pratihara period and harbour niches by uru-shringas decorate the temple walls. The lower mouldings and course are plain and simple, but the curvilinear Shikhara above is comparitively richly decorated with Rathas, Ardharathas, Bhadramukhas and Shakanasa etc. |
