The house and the area in general is witness to many painful historical events. The area was one of the most affected ones during the Indian partition of 1947 and was badly destroyed in the earthquake of 2005. These events have therefore made a permanent and prominent impression on the people and also the urban fabric of the area and add, in unique ways, to the cultural essence of the place. |

The property is single storey with rooms arranged around a pacca square courtyard. The main features of the building are the arcaded front verandah which leads to rooms arranged in linear series. A common feature of most of the houses in Poonch is the double-entrance deodi which leads to the house. The entrance foyer consists of a water storage tank. |

The main building materials which have been used in the construction of the property are brick, stone and timber. Timber has essentially been used to construct the wooden porch and the roof truss. The features which highlight the form and elevation of the property are the series of dormers lining the front roof overhang. The arched door and window surrounds and the bright colours which emphasize the building face. |
