The settlement is located on the right bank of the River Jhelum and is accessed by means of a wooden bridge now by an additional concrete one . The area is generally plain in topography and has a tightly built form. |

The property belongs to one of the most influential families of Kashmir, members of which have served the local government in various capacities. |

Like the historic town of Srinagar, Baramulla is yet another significant town located on the banks of River Jhelum. The principal occupation of the people for many generations has been that of fruit business and therefore the area around the town is seen dotted with many, sprawling apple orchards. A number of significant religious places for both Hindus and Muslims are seen in and around the town. |

The building is located on the edge of a narrow street, of the Khwaja Sahib Mohalla, with a narrow entrance, which leads to the private courtyard of the residential cluster. The entrance to the building is through this courtyard. Some plants which include some flowers and poplar trees can be seen in the courtyard. This building comprises four floors based on taq construction. The building has two rooms in the ground floor, while as the first, second and the third floors have four rooms each, arranged in a symmetrical manner on either sides of centrally placed wooden staircase lobby. The building also has a decorative dub projecting from the third floor. The ground floor and the first floor are plastered in decorative mud render. |

The principal materials employed in the construction of the building are stone, maharaji bricks, deodar cedrus deodara wood used for the construction of panelled window frames and floor beams. Intricate wood carving is found on the entrance door frame and on the panels of the windows. A series of carved free standing wooden brackets are also seen at the third floor, projecting from the floor beams. The internal walls are mud plastered and the floors are covered with mud flooring except for the two rooms in ground floor, which have recently been tiled. |
