The stratigraphic sequence comprises 0.40-1 m thick indurated rubified sands 10 YR 7 4 and 10 R6 6 , disconformably overlying the ferricrete gravels and which are archaeologically sterile and heavily eroded. These overlie the indureated ferricrete gravels, which form the artefact horizon, and which in turn cap Cenozoic laterites. Artefacts are embedded within the duricrust and on the surface. A high artefact density of around 5 sq m was observed. |
