The magnificent building of Dharamshala is raised on a rectangular plan. The ornamentation of the building is spectacular. The gateway is highly ornamented. The semi-circular arched gateway is framed by multi-cusped arch. The doorway is flanked by the deep niches on the lower part and on the above portion by Jharokhas eaves .The superstructure above the gateway is supported by stone brackets. The facade of the gateway has various decorative motifs and elements like medallions, tendril patterns, geometric designs, niches, brackets, lattice work railings and others. Carved human faces, peacocks,ornate pilasters are remarkable features. The building of the Dharamshala has elements of Indo-persian style and colonial style of architecture.This is a remarkable building. |
