It lies in area between the flood plain of river Yamuna and Delhi Ridge. Delhi Ridge is a Northern extension of ancient Aravalli Range. The Ridge consists of Quartzite rocks and extends from Sout-East at Tuglaqabad, branching out in places and tapering off in the north near Wazirabad of the west bank of the river Yamuna.

Shaikh Nizamuddin Abulmoiyed was one of the chief disciples of Qutbuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki. He worked many miracles and died in the year 1273-74 A.D, during the reign of Ghiyasuddin Balban.

The square chhatri constructed on a raised walled periphery bearing graves below the ground level. The chhatri supported by eight posts with two law multi foliated arched openings. It has been coated with plaster and elaborately painted in layers of fragrant red, white and orange flowers patterns. The tomb is divided into two halves internally by means of a stone partition, each half has a calligraphy-embossed cenotaph and the interiors are as ornately covered as the exteriors. It has a flat roof and a heavy but skillfully cut marble panel set atop. There are cupolas topping all four corners and the cupolas have either side turret. The decorative designs are in the form of creeper floral and petal design.

The chhatri is constructed of rubble and brick masonry coated with plaster. Ornamentation has been done in incised plaster.
