It lies in area between the flood plain of river Yamuna and Delhi Ridge. Delhi Ridge is a Northern extension of ancient Aravalli Range. The Ridge consists of Quartzite rocks and extends from South-East at Tuglaqabad, branching out in places and tapering off in the north near Wazirabad of the west bank of the river Yamuna.

An inscription on the gateway states that it was erected by Firoz Shah Tughlaq. It is the eastern entrance to the dargah. The gateway leads directly to the courtyard of the dargah.

The historical gateway is square in plan and measures 6 sq. m. It is roofed with a hemispherical dome which rises from an octagonal drum and is crowned by a lotus cresting topped by stone finial. There is kangura pattern battlement running all sides on parapet and also on the top edge of drum. Inside the gateway is a rubble masonry platform measures approx. 0.70 m high on either side of the passage.

Wall has random rubble masonry as core material with marble cladding on walls, probably done in a later period. It has cement flooring. Dome roof is made of stone and plaster.
