It lies in area between the flood plain of river Yamuna and Delhi Ridge. Delhi Ridge is a Northern extension of ancient Aravalli Range.

The Idgah building is of historical significance. After his conquest of Delhi in 1398 A.D, Taimur received the pious, learned and nobles of the city in this Idgah and promised peace. This historical building built by Iqbal Khan Alias Mallu Khan, a commanding gracious during Mahmud Tughlaq s reign.

The gigantic enclosure building consists of a western wall 87.5 m north to south with 15 mihrab recesses and a circular bastion at each end. There is a stone paved huge open courtyard. In the west wall near the central mihrab, there is a small back doorway. It is a general feature found in all old Idgah. The building has been extensively renovated and is surrounded by a modern enclosure wall and a gateway. The structure is currently painted in white and green paint.
