It lies in area between the flood plain of river Yamuna on the East and Delhi Ridge on the West. Delhi Ridge is a Northern extension of ancient Aravalli Range.

The massive dargah built in 1317 AD by Sultan Qutubuddin Mubark Shah Khilji during his resign 1316-20 A.D . The compound contains the cenotaph of Hazrat Sheikh Shahabuddin Ashiq Allah and his father Abdul Baba along with other saints. They were one of the earliest Sufi saints who entered Delhi and established the order. Dargah Hazrat Aashiq Allah is located in a secluded spot in the middle of the green area of Sanjay Van.

The Dargah is known to regularly organize langar i.e., free food for anyone who needs it. Devotees who are looking to offer their prayers and perform rituals can buy flowers, incense sticks and oil for the lamp from the little shops just outside the compound.

The monumental Dargah is built on a rectangular plan, on a raised platform. The main shrine has a square canopy measuring 3sq. m. The building of rare architectural style has pyramidal roof supported on four stone pillars with carved capitals. The enclosure around the central gravestone decorated with perforated screen made of marble and it is painted in white, green, yellow and blue. There are two cenotaph inside the tomb.

The porch flooring is done with cemented chequred tiles and the main shrine is of local stone and marble. The external walls are made of ceramic tiles and cement plastered.
