The Puranapul Bridge pul-e-narus , was built 14 befor the construction of Hyderabad city. The purpose of the bridge was to serve as a link between golconda Karwan area and the new city Hyderabad across the Musi river. The bridge was constructed by Ibranim qutub Shah with the aim or providing easy access to the Trunk road from Golconda the east coast for the tradesmen. The puranapul bridge is one of the beast examples of Qutub shahi Architecture. The stone bridge has 22 arches and is 608 feet long 36 feet broad and 42 feet above the river bed. The bridge has a gate way at its city end. The bridge was repaired during the reign of Nawab Sikander Jah Bahadur Nizam III , and also repaired during the reign of Nawab Muhboob Ali Khan, Nizam VI. |
