The two storeyed building was built as a residential cum treaching hospital by Muhammad Quli shah. The hospital was closed during the reign of Nawab Nizam Ali Khan Nizam -II and it becane the head quarters of Sarf-E-Khas, and the artillery was kept there until police action in 1948. The darush Shifa was the first in patient hospital of India built by Muhammad Quli shah. It was one of the there noted cospitals of the world. The institution imparted unani medical education, and had a staff of hakings who were appointed by the state of Nawab Nizam Ali Khan. The hospital was closed down during the reign. The darush Shifa and Mosque have been built in the Qutub shahi style. The two storeyed building wihh a squar cortyard was erected near the river Musi. The building has 3 wings eastern, western and southern. There are 12 double rooms on the ground floor, and the same number on the 1st floor. In the northern side there is a gate-way, with 8 double romson the ground floor, and the same bumber on the 1st floor these chambers were used as in-patient wards. The out -patients were located adjacent to the northern gate in corner of the building was a Ashur Khana, which now nouses the Aluwa Sar Taug. The hospital originally had baths. The karwan sarai. |
