It lies in area between the flood plain of river Yamuna and Delhi ridge. Delhi ridge is a northern extension of ancient Aravalli range.

The structure was built by Thomas Metcalfe as a landscape element, visible from Dilkusha. He used to have a candle lit here at night.

The small tapering minar stands on a rocky hill about 10 m high. The minar has a base diameter of about 2 m and is about 4 m high.
