Sopore, a historic town of north Kashmir was founded by Suyya an able engineer of King Avantivarman in 880 AD and was named Suyya-pur. Sopore is another riverfront town spread out linearly on both the banks of River Jhelum. The principal occupation of local population is farming and tending fruit orchards. Much like the Srinagar city, Sopore town is abounded with wooden vernacular buildings. The town is known for its apple and grain productivity and as such still bears a number of granaries and orchards. |

The building has three floors with a central entrance staircase lobby. The ground floor has four rooms, two on either sides of the corridor. The same layout repeats in the first floor. However the second floor consists of three rooms. From the front, the property looks like a two storey building since most of the second floor is built under the roof truss. |

The principal materials used in the construction of the building are brick for load bearing walls and timber for the structural elements like beams and truss. The windows and doors have wooden frames and panels and are decorated by pinjrakari panels. The first floor consists of pointed arched windows and the ground floor has rectangular panels. |
