Part of the mixed-use property, comprising shops on the ground floor and rooms on the first floor still belong to Mohammad Jahangir. The first floor also served as C.I.D office temporarily. |

The area was one of the most affected ones during the Indian partition of 1947 and was badly destroyed in the earthquake of 2005. These events have therefore left a permanent and prominent impression on the people and also the urban fabric of the area and add, in unique ways, to the cultural essence of the place. |

The building is a mixed-used property with the ground floor consisting of shops and first floor serving as a residential quarter. It is a linear building facing the road. The upper floor consists of a linear wooden verandah with each room provided with a separate entry through the verandah. |

The main building elements consist of brick laid in lime mortar. The first floor verandah projects and is supported on wooden brackets. Elements of interest include wooden balusters and decorative bargeboards running the floor line of the building. |
