The area was one of the most affected ones during the Indian partition of 1947 and was badly destroyed in the earthquake of 2005. These events have therefore left a permanent and prominent impression on the people and also the urban fabric of the area and add, in unique ways, to the cultural essence of the place. |

The building has a street front and originally had a single floor with has rooms arranged around a square central open courtyard. After the earthquake, another floor, with an RCC slab was added to the building. The building is accessed by a centrally located arched gateway. |

The main building materials include dressed stone which is used on the front fa ade, random stone masonry and timber for doors and windows. The openings are rectangular in shape, slightly recessed and set within segmental arched profiles. |
