According to local belief Pushyamandapa was built by Govinda Dikshitar (mid 16th century). But architecturally the present structure is definitly of Maratha period. |

The Pushyamandapa on the banks of the river Cauvery comprises of a large open qudrangle with cloisters on either side, a small mandapa with the typical Maratha sikara roof is found in the centre of the qudrangle. Arched openings and intricately carved pillars constitute the characteristic features of the cloisters. Huge steps called Pushyamandapa Padithurai, lead to the river. A pair of stuccoed Vyalifigures, massive in size are seated in the couchant posture at the entrance of the mandapa. |
