| Description of Building/ Structure/Site
इमारत/संरचना/स्थल का विवरण |
The temple displays Vijayanagar as well as Maratha features. Two huge and intricately carved Gopurams, erected one behind the other leads to the main Sanctum inside. Some of the pillars exhibit the typical Vijayanagar style bracket figurine of the inverted lotus bud. Cylindrical pillars are seen in one of the rear Mandapas. An interesting structure is a small Maratha mandapa on the open courtyard between the two gopurams. It is vault-roofed and square in plan. The arched opening on the fourth side is of the round-arch variety. Steps on either side lead to a portico which in turn leads to the Mandapa proper. The mandapa is built on a raised platform and houses the image of a peacock. |
