| Brief History / संक्षिप्त इतिहास | The temple has been erected to commemorate the self-immolation of the Queen Ayi Amman Ayi, the wife of Raja Vijaya Raghunatha Tondaiman, the ruler of Pudukkottai. Images of the king and the queen are worshipped in this temple. Flower garlands malai are often offered by the devotees and hence the area itself come to known as Malaiyidu. |
