The historic mosque was built by Kaniz-i-Fatima entitled as Fakr-i-Jahan , in memory of her husband Shujaat Khan, a noble in Aurangzeb s court.

The remarkable mosque is rectangular in plan and it stands on a platform approx. 2.5 m high having shops against it. The court of the mosque has arcaded from the north and south. The mosque has three bays, each roofed by domes ornamented with alternate black and white marble strips. A bulbous dome has inverted lotus cresting with metal finial in kalasha shape over a high drum and is balanced by the four square minarets crowned by cupolas. The arches are multi-foiled. The mosque is entered through a doorway leading to steps on the south-east end. There is an inscription above the central arch and above it, alternate black and white marble strips on domes retain its glory.
