Tombs of Ustad - Shagird are Mughal period monuments situated in village Talania of Sirhind-Fategarh, Punjab, India. 1 Sirhind was a popular town during Mughal period. It was situated on the Delhi to Lahore Highway. In 1710, Banda Singh Bahadur and his Sikh army destroyed the city of Sirhind completely and Wazir Khan the governor, was killed in the Battle of Chappar Chiri. But some of these monuments like Tombs of Ustad - Shagird survived. |

It is a square shaped, double-storey structure. It comprises of a hemispherical dome supported on an octagonal drum and four minarets at the corners. The dome is surmounted by an inverted lotus. The structure consists of pointed arches at the niches and entrance. The tomb is built on a raised platform that is approached by a flight of stairs. In the interior, the niches, alcoves and the roof are decorated with geometrical designs. There are two graves which are placed inside the tomb. |
