| Brief History / संक्षिप्त इतिहास | The Aam Khas Bagh was constructed for the use of royalty Khas as well as common people Aam . This royal inn was initially built by Akbar and planned by Hafiz Rakhna. It was rebuilt by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan along the Mughal military road between Delhi and Lahore. The royal couple used to stay here in the old building complex while going to and coming back from Lahore. Later on, princess Nazar married Kritik here. Some additions were made later by Jahangir. |

The building complex is spread over 11 acres of land. It has a plain roof with kiosks on the front wall. On the roof there is a parapet wall with kangoora battlement. There are elevated plinths on the entrance. There is one main gate which is in bell shaped and along with it there are small gates which are attached to the rooms and the rooms are connected to one another. There are pointed arches on the doors. There is ventilation facility as well as wooden doors have been made. The palatial compound had a set of fountains. Water for the fountains was drawn from a huge well nearby and circulated through underground conduits. A beautiful Charbagh garden and a nursery was being maintained. The complex also consisted of a hammam and a tank with unique methods of heating water. |
