| Brief History / संक्षिप्त इतिहास | Sheikh Ahmad Sirhind 1564-1624 is recorded to have erected a mosque his residence in 1008 1599-1600. On the same site a large mosque is recorded to have been built by the Mughal noble Tarbiyat Khan in 1636-37. Most probably the latter part of the mosque under study was the work of tarbiyat Khan. |

This mausoleum consists of an onion-shaped, ribbed dome structure surmounted by an inverted lotus with pinnacle on top. The dome is surrounded by four minarets. It has kangoora battlement on the parapet wall. The structure has a projected cornice supported on carved brackets. The entrance gateway and the exterior walls consist of multi-foliated arches and trellis work carved on its spandrels. The interior wall consists of a semi-circular arches along with lattice work on the windows. Its corridors have multi-foliated arches that have a projected balcony with lattice work on the railings and the balcony is supported on highly stylized brackets. The three graves are placed in the center of the tomb. The ceiling of the tomb is beautifully decorated with exquisite Pietra-Dura inlay work. The squinches are decorated with glass work and other designs that may include flower pots, vases, jars, amphorae etc. It has been renovated several times. |

The mausoleum is a fine building made with bricks and lime mortar at the core and partly overlaid with stone and marble. The plinth and gateway is made of red and buff-coloured sandstone. The dome is made of white marble and at the core; it is built by using lakhori bricks and lime mortar. |
