| Brief History / संक्षिप्त इतिहास | It is one of the historic gates to be found in Delhi. Situated on the grand Trunk road in North Delhi, the gateways were commissioned in 1728 by Nasir Mahaldar Khan, an official in the court of Muhammad Shah Rangeela as indicated by an inscription. |

The gateways are grand in appearance with three arched openings and flat domes. The triple gateway structure is based on a rectangular plan. Each gateway has two recessed arches. These arches are beautifully carved with geometric and floral patterns. The parapet on the front facade has encarved battlement Kangura pattern. At the backside, above the central gateway, Arabic inscription is written on a small white surface. The central arch consists of a circular vault in the interior. These circular vaults are decorated with pendantines. There are two barrel vaults situated at the sides of the triple gateway. Following the barrel vault, there is another arch having a circular vault. The barrel vaults are supported by triangular brackets on four sides. The side walls consist of arched openings with niches on either side. At the backside, there are four drain outlets on the wall decorated with floral designs. The gateway has a great architectural and historical significance. |
