The magnificent and historic Gurudwara is an architectural marvel. The building is completely made up of white glistening marble and surrounded by beautiful garden. The Sikh Shrine is heavily influenced by Indo-persian style. The spacious courtyard is approached through a grand arched gateway. It is constructed on a square plan on the elevated platform. The huge religious structure is surmounted by a ribbed bulbous dome over the sanctum sanctorum. It is crowned by inverted lotus and an ornate finial. The dome is set over an arched pavilion. Parapet of this pavilion is adorned with smaller solid domes. The four cupolas adorned the four corners. The other salient architectural elements are arched gateway, multi-cusped arched niches, chhatris, jharokhas, lattice screens, brackets and others. The geometrical, floral designs are carved in low relief to ornament the gateway and other places. The interior of the Gurudwara is beautified by using various means like stucco, inlay work etc to produce intricate designs and friezes comprised of various motifs such as vines, flowers, birds, animals and other sacred symbols of Sikhism. The historic shrine of Sikhs is a remarkable architectural marvel and has a high heritage value. |
