It lies in area between the flood plain of river and Delhi Ridge. Delhi Ridge is a Northern extension of ancient Aravalli Range.

Yoga Maya was the sister of Krishna. According to tradition this temple has a very ancient origin but the present building is date back to 19th century, having erected by Sedh Mal, a noble in the court of Akbar II.

Devotees are offering their prayers and perform rituals. The temple is also an integral part of an important inter-faith festival of Delhi, the annual Phool Malon Ki Sair, the three-day festival, generally held in the month of September, just after the rainy season. The temple is also the venue of a large congregation of devotees during the Navratri celebrations.

The temple lies in a walled enclosure with an entrance hall and a sanctum sanctorum and entered through an impressive gateway to the south. The sanctum is built with a domed roof and is surmounted by a truncated pyramidal tower crowned by a gilt pinnacle. The temple is paved inside with marble, and the main Pratima of a deity or the sacred stone is placed in a marble well measuring approx. 0.6 sq m and 0.3 m deep. The enclosure is further enclosed with a steel fence. The idol is covered in sequins and cloth, and over it are suspended from the ceiling row of few fans. Just outside the entrance to the sanctum, there is a panel, hung with a large number of bells suspended from the ceiling. At the marble doorway of the temple, there is two tiger on either side of the entrance in a sitting posture facing the shrine. Opposite the marble doorway of the temple, which is to the south, is a small rectangular pavilion having three cusped arch openings, containing a two stone tiger in a sitting posture facing the shrine. The walled enclosure around the temple is square, with towers at the four corners.
