| Brief History / संक्षिप्त इतिहास | The building was originally constructed by Prem Nath a retired teacher in the early part of 20thcentury. The building was bought by Bashir Ahmad, a shopkeeper, some nine years ago. |

Sopore, a historic town of north Kashmir was founded by Suyya an able engineer of King Avantivarman in 880 AD and was named Suyya-pur. Sopore is another riverfront town spread out linearly on both the banks of River Jhelum. The principal occupation of local population is farming and tending fruit orchards. Much like the Srinagar city, Sopore town is abounded with wooden vernacular buildings. The town is known for its apple and grain productivity and as such still bears a number of granaries and orchards. |

The building has three floors. The ground floor has two rooms located on either side of the centrally located corridor. The corridor leads to the stair case which further leads to the upper floors. The first floor has two rooms and the second floor has a hall. The building also has a wooden dub running along the full length of the second floor. Another small wooden dub is also seen projecting from the second floor on the right side of the building. |

The materials used in the construction of this building include Maharaji bricks, mud mortar, wooden, door-window, frames and panels. The window panels exhibit pinjrakari work. The dub projecting window of the building displays some trellis work. Internally the walls are mud plastered except for the ground floor which has been recently plastered in cement. The ceiling of the building is made of wooden beams running through and through across the building. |
