| Topographical Description / स्थलाकृतिक विवरण | The neighbourhood is spread out on a flat land and is also not well vegetated. The neighborhood is close-knit with houses sharing walls. Much of the historic character of the neighbourhood has changed and whatever is left is rapidly changing, yet the characteristic feature of the area is the traditional shops facing the street, which all the houses have. |

| Brief History / संक्षिप्त इतिहास | The residents, majority to who are Muslims, maintain that the houses belong to affluent jagirdars or munshis who were settled by Mian Nizamuddin in the area. Mian Nizamuddin, erstwhile Prime Minister of Poonch, had bought a large portion of land in Reasi as his jagir and the area came to be known as Jagir Sila Madi. He constructed this house where it is said that, he lived till his death. His family migrated to Pakistan and the house became a custodian property thereafter. |

The town of Reasi is largely an agrarian based economy, drained by the mighty Chenab River, and home to many important historical events. Dominated by the robust Bhimgarh Fort, the town is one of the oldest in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and was the seat of the erstwhile Bhimgarh State, and is said to have been established by Raja Bhim Dev somewhere in the 8th century. The town still has strong reminders of its ancient past in the form of little known temples like Bhimsen Devta. |

The house occupies a large area and is one of the largest properties in the Muslim Mohalla. The layout of the residential property is rectangular with the front portion being occupied by a twin shop facing the road. The shops have since been converted to storage rooms. The other private rooms are arranged around a rectangular courtyard around which runs an arcaded verandah. The building is single storey and has a terrace floor which has a lakhori brick parapet. |

The main building material used in the construction is brick and timber used for ceiling , the walls are plastered with lime. The features of decoration worthy of attention include the arched incisions on all the wall surfaces which surround the courtyard and the arcaded verandah. The ceiling level has a band of brick corbelling which also adds to the external ornamentation of the house. |
