| Topographical Description / स्थलाकृतिक विवरण | The neighbourhood is spread out on a flat land and is also not well vegetated. The neighbourhood is close-knit with houses sharing common walls. Much of the historic character of the neighboutrhood has changed and whatever is left is rapidly changing, yet the characteristic feature of the area is the traditional shops facing the street, which all the houses have. |

| Brief History / संक्षिप्त इतिहास | The residents, majority of who are Muslims, maintain that the houses belong to affluent jagirdars or munshis who were settled by Mian Nizamuddin in the area. This house house was bought by the present owners, who are prosperous local businessmen, from Mahinder Shah Chopra. |

The town of Reasi is largely an agrarian based economy, drained by the mighty Chenab River, and home to many important historical events. Dominated by the robust Bhimgarh Fort, the town is one of the oldest in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and was the seat of the erstwhile Bhimgarh State, and is said to have been established by Raja Bhim Dev somewhere in the 8th century. The town still has strong reminders of its ancient past in the form of little known temples like Bhimsen Devta. |

The building is located along the neighbourhood street with two of its sides facing the street crossing. The front of the house consists of a shop with a large arched recess on its front. The rest of the house is arranged around an open and paved courtyard. The building is single storey and has many rooms which have an arched verandah in front. |

The building is constructed in bricks and has a timber ceiling. The shop window is wooden paneled and most of the other windows of the building are partly glazed and partly paneled. The walls are plastered in lime both on the inner as well as outer surfaces. |
