The area was one of the most affected ones during the Indian partition of 1947 and was badly destroyed in the earthquake of 2005. These events have therefore left a permanent and prominent impression on the people and also the urban fabric of the area and add, in unique ways, to the cultural essence of the place. |

The property is directly located on a narrow street of Kashmiri Mohalla. The entrance to the building is via an elaborate, double-storey gateway deedh . The front fa ade is adorned with features like jharokhas, wall niches and medallions. Once inside the foyer, one sees a narrow flight of wooden staircase on one side and way to the private courtyard at the far end. The ground floor of the building has one large hall and the first floor two rooms essentially separated by a partition wall. The first floor also consists of a pair of fireplaces facing each other on opposite walls. The second floor has a large hall. |

The building is constructed in brick masonry and has timber ceilings. There are various decorative features adorning the building include dubs projecting bay windows corbelled floor levels and prominent arched profiles. The entrance to the building is through a prominent gateway deodi . The building is covered by a double pitched sloping roof timed with carved wooden eaves board. |
