The area was one of the most affected ones during the Indian partition of 1947 and was badly destroyed in the earthquake of 2005. These events have therefore left a permanent and prominent impression on the people and also the urban fabric of the area and add, in unique ways, to the cultural essence of the place. |

The building is a modest, single storey construction with a room in front which faces the road and one at the back within the compound. A series of varusi window panels line the building front, which has a mud roof resting over timber joists. |

The main material consists of timber, brick and mud. While the walls are constructed in brick masonry, the screens and windows are in timber. Mud has been used for plastering the inner and outer surfaces of the house. |
