| Brief History / संक्षिप्त इतिहास | The Exploration Branch of the Department, and the then students of the School of Archaeology of the Department, undertook an intensive exploration in the Bankura District, along the river Kasai Kangsabati and its affluent Kumari and Jam, where about 40 square miles of land will be submerged under water as a sequel to the construction of a dam on the main river. |

| Description of Building/ Structure/Site
इमारत/संरचना/स्थल का विवरण |
Gravel with palaeoliths was fairly widespread at Baddih, particularly at the horizon of the contour of about 450 ft. above sea-level, its thickness being approximately 4 to 5 ft. The tools of Series I and microliths were yeilded. Artefacts, found at all the levels of the deposit, consisted mostly of hand-axes, a few ovates and scanty number of cleavers. The handaxes showed the crude pebble-butt in general but were mostly flat due to the controllflaking- an evolved technique. The Cleavers were thicker and not so evolved. |
