The cave forms an amphitheatre with a height of 15 m in the opening decreasing to 1.2-1.3 m at the rear with the floor rising in the same direction. The cave is cut entirely into coarse Satyavedu formation boulder-conglomerate. Studies of sediments were conducted by Pappu 1996,2001 . As per IAR 1962-63 12, 1963-64 19 within the rock shelter, excavations by the ASI yielded artefact-bearing horizons extending from the ancient floor level of the cave to the top silty layers with comprising what he termed a sequence of post-Acheulian to Middle Stone Age artefacts. |
